Take a Photo to Remember Where You Parked

Level 4. Row G. Or was it Level 3? You stood there, said it out loud, felt confident. And now you're wandering a concrete maze pressing your key fob and praying for a beep.

Our brains are genuinely bad at this. Parking spots, hotel room numbers, which locker at the gym, where you set your bag down at the airport — all of it evaporates the moment we walk away and start thinking about literally anything else.

The fix is embarrassingly low-tech. Take a photo. That's it. That's the tip.

But a photo with the details stamped on it is the version that actually rescues you later.

Parking garages, the classic case

Big garages all look the same on purpose, apparently. Before you walk off, snap a shot of the nearest pillar — the one with the level and row painted on it. Type in the garage name if you want. The time gets stamped automatically, which is weirdly helpful when you're trying to remember if you've been circling for five minutes or twenty.

Come back, open the photo, walk straight to your car like a person who has their life together.

It's not just cars

Once you start doing this you'll find uses everywhere.

Stashing a suitcase in a left-luggage locker — photo of the locker number. Hiding the spare key for a guest — photo of the exact spot, sent straight to them. Putting the holiday decorations "in the usual place" in a storage unit — photo, so next December isn't a treasure hunt.

Anywhere your future self is going to squint and go "wait, where did I...?" — that's a place for a quick stamped photo.
